Hi all, An interesting tidbit I came across today in the "Cyclopedia of Eminent and Representative Men of the Carolinas", p. 623, Volume 2, North Carolina, 1892... "[Regarding] General Rufus Barringer of Cabarrus... his grandfather, John Paul Barringer, was born in Wurtemburg, Germany in 1721. He [John Paul] first settled in Pennsylvania, but soon afterward moved to North Carolina... he [John Paul] was an ardent Whig during the revolution and was captured by Torries...He died at the homestead, Cabarrus County, January 1, 1807. His son was General Paul Barringer (1778-1844)... [who's] sons were Daniel Moreau Barringer (b.1806) and Rufus Barringer (born December 2, 1821." Although I have placed this in quotes, it is kind of paraphrased since I found it on my lunch break at the gen library and scribbled it on a napkin with a pencil stub. Please forgive me. I will take a picture of the paragraph with my digital camera (we can't copy these books in the library but we can pay to have it copied and wait a few weeks) and transcribe it if anyone would like a copy. Sincerely, Bret Barrier
