I've been researching my ancestry in Knox and Gibson counties, Indiana. June Barekman's book was a big help, but I still have some gaps to fill. So far, I've traced my roots to the Barrickman/Barekman/Bergman and Antes/Anthis families who migrated west just before the Northwest Territory was broken into states, many of them settling in the Knox County area of Indiana.
I have Peter Bergman m. Elizabeth Anthis, and their son Abraham C. who married his cousin Elizabeth Anthis. These are the earliest ancestors I've located thus far. Most of their descendants in Indiana chose to go with the Barekman spelling.
Anyone have connections to this part of the family? Let's compare notes!
