Dear Sharon, If you check my response to Ms. Zickafoose's account of the Barrickman famly, you will find the correct birth date for Sarah as in her baptismal record. Her baptismal sponsors (Godparents) were her aunt and uncle, Heinrich and Sarah (Salome) Kohr, whose surname these days is usually spelt "Core". The baptismal date is very hard to read, 7 May 1801 or possibly 1807. Her husband, William Riggs, is named in Sarah's father's will [cited in the above-mentioned response]. He was William Azariel Riggs, son of Alexander and Mary Riggs. A marriage record for them was not recorded in Monongalia County. They could have married in PA, as many did who lived in northern Monongalia Co., or the officator (Justice of the Peace or minister) may simply have neglected to enter the record. This was a common occurrence. I have read, concerning William A. Riggs, that while he died in PA his will was probated in Tyler Co., WV. I have not checked this out, but perhaps you will be interested to do this, and to seek out his and Sarah's land records. I do not know if there was any probate record concerning Sarah's estate. If she died in Ritchie Co., perhaps you can check there. Good hunting, Jade Notify Administrator about this message?
