I'm looking for any one that may have a Mary Barrett born abt. 1841 in Cork, Ireland in their tree. She parents were John Barrett and Ellen Murray.
She immigrated out to Australia on the Ship "Duke of Newcastle" in 1864 as an unassisted passenger. I believe the ship left from Bantry Bay,Ireland.
The "Duke of Newcastle" arrived in the Port of Melbourne on the 21st June 1864, on board was a young Irishmen called John Leary who was also from Cork, and another unassisted passenger. His parent's names were Jeremiah Leary and Ellen McCarthy.
Mary and John married on the 4th July 1864 in St.Francis RC Church, Melbourne. Both the Leary and Barrett families were farmers back in Ireland.
A daughter called Ellen was born abt. 1866 to John and Mary, I believe in the Maryborough District of Victoria. But
on the 21st August 1868 Mary died from TB, the hospital records and her Death Certificate both state that she was aged 27yrs at the time of her death.
I would love to find more about Mary's family - did she have any brothers and sisters, and did any of them immigrate out to Australia as well.
