Dorothy (Proctor) Barrett and Samuel Robbins m.1701

I've been tracking down the sources that say that Samuel Robbins b. 2 Jan 1679 Chelmsford, MA, son of George Robbins married Dorothy (Proctor) Barrett 4 Mar 1701, Chelmsford, MA - and it just doesn't make sense.

Torrey's Marriages state that Dorothy Proctor married first John Barret Jr., on 18 Dec 1679 Chelmsford, MA. A Genealogy of the Descendents of Robert Proctor and The Genealogy of the Barrett family both state this - so do the Chelmsford vital records. Torrey, however, does say that she married 2nd Samuel Robbins. That marriage took place in Chelmsford on Mar 4 1701. (Vital records). Here's my question:

Dorothy Proctor, daughter of Robert Proctor was born in 1654. Samuel and Dorothy Robbins are having children up until 1723 - well, that is when their last recorded child is baptized in Killingly, CT. Dorothy would have been 70 years of age at the birth of this child!

Is it possible that Dorothy and John Barrett had a daughter named Dorothy b. ca. 1770? Is it possible for a 70 year old woman to have viable offspring? Is her birthdate correct? She married John Barrat at the age of 25 according to the birthdate above.

Anyway, if anyone else has some thoughts on this particular issue - I would love to get some feedback/discussion.

Thanks for any help -
Jen Herron
