Barretts in W V related to Clarkens in Orange,NJ
I am searching for my Barrett ancestors born in Ireland. My
great-grandmother was Bridget Barrett, probably born about 1844- again
probably in County Sligo, Ireland.Bridget Barrett married Peter Clarken
(born December 1849).Bridget Barrett Clarken and Peter Clarken were
marriedin Ireland. - probably about 1870-71.They had 5 children born in
Ireland and 3 more children born in Orange, NJ:
Children:
Mary Clarken - bornMarch 1872in Ireland (she married John Gannon in 1895
in Orange, NJ). Mary died about 1906 in Orange.
James E. Clarken - born April 1874in Ireland
William Clarken - born February 1876 in Ireland
Patrick Clarken - born April 1878 in Ireland (died 1902 in Orange, N.J.)

in New Jersey - this is my grandmother)
Michael Clarken - born December. 1886 in Orange, NJ.
Thomas Henry Clarken - born Dec. 1888 in Orange, NJ.
Bridget Barrett Clarken and her family immigrated from Ireland in 1883, and
settled in Orange, NJ.They were communicants of
St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church on Ridge St. in Orange, NJ,
and Peter and Bridget are buried in St. John's Cemetery, as well as sons
Peter and Patrick, who died young - in their 20's.
Bridget Barrett had a brother, John Barrett, who was born in Ireland (again,
probably in County Sligo) about 1840-1850 in Ireland and John Barrett
immigrated to West Virginia probably about the same time that Bridget
Barrett Clarken and Peter Clarken immigrated to the US - 1883.John Barrett
must have married and had a family as the Barretts in West Virginia were in
contact with his sister Bridget Barrett in New Jersey.
