Susie,
Yes, that is my family. We are, I calculate, 2nd cousins once removed. Our ancestors-in-common were Daniel Barrett and Rebekah Bosworth.Your great-grandmother Ida Ann Barrett was a 2nd cousin of my great great-grandfather Anthony Wayne Carroll Jr., son of Anthony Wayne Carroll Sr. and Balinda Root who raised a family in Licking Co., OH.
Rebekah Bosworth as you probably know was directly descended from John Howland and Elizabeth Tilly of the Mayflower, being a 3rd great-granddaughter.
Dr. Barnett’s book is intriguing in that she states A. W. Carroll Sr. was born 1805 PA.I have never seen that combination of date and place before and wonder where she came up with that. The LDS has 1805 MA, which is incorrect. He was born 20 February 1806 somewhere in Western PA according to the obituary written by two of his children, and therefore apparently according to him.But it’s not so much the date, as the place he was born that has been a brick wall.No birth record for Anthony Wayne Carroll has ever been found as far as I know, because we don’t know where in PA to look, and although we have only recently discovered that his parents were Philip and Mary Carrel we know nothing about their origins.
By all means look for her address. She may have her own sources of information.Copies of the pages for Daniel Barrett and Rebekah Bosworth, their daughter Damaris Barrett and Noble Root, their daughter Balinda Root and Anthony Wayne Carroll and their 8 children would be helpful. I will be happy to reimburse you for your effort. Can you scan it or do you need my mailing address?
As for the other older book I guess that must remain a mystery for now.Perhaps it will surface someday.Smicksburg, PA is Amish country. Were these Barrett’s Amish?
