I still don't have access to my files, but Jno was referred to in early writings as Perrot or Parrat. The Beroth surname did not surface until his grandchildren's generation when at least 2 g-sons md women named Beroth. When surveyors arrived to scout the mountain on which Jno lived, a bishop of the LDS wrote that Jno `lived like an indian'. There were plans to buy a portion of the mountain, but who do you suppose the owners were? It makes sense to me that the Catawba owned most of it, and only moved on after selling out. The local folklore at that time involved JarFly and must have had at least SOME basis. Among my files is a reference to one of Jerusha's descendantss, who has a family Bible in which Betsy Henderson is named as Jerusha's mother. Will try to get back to you when I can get to my files again, but it may be later this yr.
