I am so excited.I am a newbie to this sohope some of you old-timers can help me.My great-grandfather was named Diego Barrera and he moved from Mier to Starr County, Texas in the late 1800's.My grandfather's name was Indalecio (or Yndalecio) Barrera and he was married to Josefa Gonzales Vidaurri and they lived in El Sauz, Starr County Texas.I am very interested in tracing the Barrera family of Mier, Tamaulipas -- I understand that they were prominent there in the 1700's-- one of them was an alcalde and there was also a poet and historian.I understand that a portion of the original family home is still standing in Mier. I would like to trace the family roots all the way back to Spain if possible. All help will be greatly appreciated.
