Thanks for the reply. Maybe you and my husband are relatives. He has an Uncle named Silvester that lives in the valley but he is from his father's side. My husband doesn't know his grandparent's names as he only met them once in the 1950's so they passed away after 1952. He never thought to ask his mother while she was still alive and now she and his father passed away recently within one week of each other after 56 years of marriage. His father was Natividad Garcia born in Rio Grande City and his mother was Sara Barrera born also in Rio Grande City. He does know that a brother of his mother's named Roberto Barrera still lives in either Mission or McAllen, TX and hopes to be able to go there soon to find more information about his family. His mother also had a brother named Ruben Barrera. We have sent for his mother's birth certificate after searching to find where it was as Austin showed no record of her but it has not came back yet. Thank goodness that Rio Grande City had it. As soon as it comes in then we will know who his grandparents were and for sure if they were born in Spain or not. Thanks
Connie
