According to NORRIS fam hist by Harry Alexander DAVIS, my anc is a William NORRIS who m Nancy BARREL. This Nancy supposed to have been born in Ireland, 1779. William NORRIS supposed to have been from Chesterfield-Darlington District, SC. Also, according to the history, William & Nancy moved to GA; Dallas Co, AL; then to Benton (now Calhoun) Co, AL, where William is supposed to have died in 1842. I did find a William & Nancy NORRIS in Calhoun Co but was not William who was married to Nancy BARREL. The William that I found in Calhoun was War of 1812 vet & wife was born Ireland but maiden name was Nancy ADAMS & children did not incl my anc. Does anyone have documentation on William NORRIS & Nancy BARREL? I am descended from Ambrose NORRIS Sr., b abt 1800 SC, who m Martha BALDWIN & res 1830 Laurens Co, SC; 1840 Forsyth Co, GA; and 1850 Harris Co, GA; later moved to Russell Co, AL. Ambrose supposed to be s/o William & Nancy. Thanks.
