I can give you some other BARRAGAN info that may be of some interest to your research. Although not in my family tree, the name Barragan came up in a land purchase agreement, written in Spanish, dated 1770's.
Don~a Dolores Urrea de Calvo sold a rancho called La Alameda for "siento sinco pesos" to my ancestor, "el gov" Jose Maria Verdugo. Dolores inherited this rancho from her deceased mother, Don~a Luisa BARRAGAN de Urrea. I don't know if the land was in Sonora, MX or in Los Angeles area, CA. That the parties involved were denoted by "Don~a" and "el gov." would seem to suggest that they were people of some social standing; and obviously, of money & property. By the arrangement of her name, I would guess that Luisa BARRAGAN is her maiden name, and that "de Urrea" denotes >wife of UrreaConversely, if you have any VERDUGO info attached to your BARRAGAN Tree, please let me know. Good luck, and thanks, [email protected]
