thank you for replying to my query. I need all the help I can get! Your answer: I received a listing (from a newly-found Reichert descendant) from a transcript of Salem-Hetzel's Church records and giving page 81 as the source: "KIEFER, Elisabeth, d/Joseph KIEFER & Sybilla HERING, b. 17 May 1827, bp. 1 Jul 1827, sp. David ZERBE & wf. Elisabeth" I had gotten the same listing several years ago (with out the page number) by at least four different Daniel J Batdorf descendants. I am descended from one of the three children Sybilla had with Samuel Reichert after she left her husband Benjamin Batdorf. The Reicherts/Richard(s) and Her(r)ings/Harings etc are on my father's side. That side of the family never talked about their background so it was difficult to interpret the few clues I was left. I've gotten mostly solid information and a great deal of help from distant researchers. About 8 years ago, I hired a research in Schuylkill County who found Sybilla's parents for me and confirmed her husband as Benjamin Batdorf. The researcher sent me photocopies of the divorce records found in the courthouse. Fascinating stuff! Recently, my new Reichert descendant identified Samuel Reichert's parents as Carl Reichert and Anna Marie Lengel. Carl was married to Maria Sarah Lengel at the time. My Reichert relative is descended from Carl and Maria. Descendants of Sybilla's last child with Benjamin (Daniel Joshua Batdorf) have given me his family's information. My great aunt's version of his fate after Sybilla deserted the Batdorf household differed from the Batdorf version. The information she left is a sanitized, more romantic version, but with bits of facts embedded. I would really like to know what happened to Elizabeth. She is part of the family and needs to be remembered. I am trying to write down the history of my father's side with Sybilla as a central figure. However, every time I try to work on it, I get more information from a new relative! So far I am the only one on my father's side working on genealogy. I need to get something written and sent to all those places I visited expecting to find something and didn't find anything. I do most of my research online. I'm too far away from Schuylkill County to dig out more information. Some day ..., when I win the lottery! Thank you again for your reply. Pam B Notify Administrator about this message?
