hello,
the great-grandfather of my great-grandmother was Joseph Jacot-Baron or Josef Jakob Baron, born 1804 in Le Locle
(today:switzerland, but in 1804 Locle was part of prussia ). From the archive of Zurich ( switzerland ) I know that he was clockmaker and came from Le Locle. But in the archive of Le Locle, they don't find him. However, my aunt claims that he was jewish and born in the region of Alsace. But as Le Locle is not in the Alsace, I would like to know if somebody has an idea from where in Prussia Josef Jakob Baron had come from - till today, he remains just unidentifiable and I hope to get some help.
