I may be able to help you. I am researching my Baron family ancestors in Cornwall (mainly) and Devon, and have traced back to the early 1700s. None so far would seem to connect to the brief description you posted.

However, in my researches I have come across some information on other Barons in the Devon and Cornwall area but not yet connected to my tree. These include a reference to some Barons living in Ugborough even before the date you quoted. Please get in touch and I will pass on what I have.
