I came across this posting quite by accident and find it interesting to see my family name and parts of your history matching mine. My grandparents came from the Ukraine around that time you mention and my uncle was Michael Baron. Our name also used to be spelled "Baran". However, the Michael Baron I speak of was born here in the US and his brother, my father, was Edmund. Good luck with your search!
