The Baron name is thought to be patronymical in origin. It can be associated with the Scots and Irish, meaning "descendant of Baron." Another account indicates the name Baron has been traced to England which was once occupied by the Anglo/Saxons.A good source of information can be found in the book, Baron, published by Sharon Taylor, Halbert's Inc., Bath, Ohio, 44210; and, Who's Who of the Baron's Around the World. (Same address). I am not certain that these books are still in print. The title Baron, has a lengthy list of contempory Baron's in the U.S. with addresses and telephone numbers. Who's Who....contains a smaller list, but includes a number of foreign countries with autobiographies of the Baron's who are listed.
