I am a descendant of a Gabriel Barron who shows as being born in 1800 in Illinois on the Washington County, Missouri census records. of 1830 to 1860. (south of present-day St. Louis & Cahokia) We have assumed Gabriel could be related to the Jean Baptiste Baron spoken of in the historical records of the Cahokia area when the Illinois territory was first being explored by the voyageurs, but have unearthed no records to date to confirm such relationship. The 1830 census records only the name of the head of the family (Gabriel Barron) and sex and age range of family members. I can post the info we have, mostly from census records, if interested. I too am interested in any information you have which could help establish the link between J. Baptiste and Gabriel, also information about ancestors of J. Baptiste. thanks
