Joseph S. Baron (no other info on him), father of Rhoda BARON, b 18 Feb 1782 in Washington Co., TN, married to John PROFFITT on 19 Feb 1801, also in Washington Co., TN. John b 17 Apr 1777 in Shenandoah Co., VA.
Their son is William Baron PROFFITT, b 2 Apr 1803 in Sullivan Co., TN and d in 1878; he married Malinda WILLARD.
Wm. and Malinda's son is John Mark PROFFITT, b 21 may 1830 in Jonesborough, Sullivan Co., TN and d 19 Dec 1904 in Rice Co., KS; he married (1) Barbara Ellen SMITH and (2) Abigail BROWNING and had children with both wives.
Daughter Sarah Catherine PROFFITT b 18 Apr 1863 in TN and d 2 Dec 1946 in Alva, Woods Co., OK; she married Charles Clarence RIGGS on 30 Oct 1880; he was born 23 Feb 1860 in Buford, Highland Co., OH, and d 10 Jan 1909 in Woods Co., OK.
With the help of many cousins, I have been able to learn much more about the PROFFITT family, but precious little of the BARON family. I'm hopeful that this bit of information will be enough that someone will be able to point me in the right direction.
