We have been researching Stephen Baker Barnum bn b/w 1788-1792 CT m. to Martha Hill. Stephen was in the New Milford census in 1810, Kent in 1820 and Litchfield in 1830. Sometime in the early 1830s he changed his name (and those of his offspring) to Burnham and moved to Thompsonville, Sullivan County, New York.

Stephen and Martha's children are Anna Eliza, Willam H., Caroline, Elbert Lovejoy, Beekman Thomas, Manley Augustus and Catherine Louise. We also think the oldest son may be John. H. who married Maryetta Stanton, daughter of Joshua Stanton and (second wife) Elizabeth Dickerson.

As of now, we have not been able to find/verify Stephen's parents. Other Barnums that are nearby in census records are Amos, Samuel and Stephen.

I have submitted our information to Patrick Barnums website as well.

If anyone can shed any light on Stephen's parents it would be greatly appreciated!
