My wife is a Barnwell nee Barnhill descended from Big Robert Barnhill of Orange County North Carolina. Our retirement home outside Goliad is nearing completion. James Hazard Barnwell appears to be from those glorious blue blood Barnwells and not Barnhill trash. John N. Barnhill is still a question for me. There is a Barnhill street near the Presidio in Goliad but I suspect it was named after a later Barnhill resident in the town.
