I'm hoping to find information on my gg-grandfather, James Barnhill, or James H. Barnhill (Born: abt 1840-2/Tennessee). James married Margaret Ann Mitchem (Born: 1848/Kentucky). At some point, James and Margaret moved to Missouri, where I believe James died around 1887. James and Margaret's children are listed below: Annie Barnhill (Born: 1870) Emma Barnhill (Born: 1880) Ada Barnhill (Born: 1881) [my line/married James C. Fitch] Cynthia Barnhill (Born: 1884) Thomas Wiley Barnhill (Born: 1885) Luke Winslow Barnhill (Born: 1887) I've found James and his family on the 1880 Mississippi County, Missouri Census. It lists not only James' birthplace as Tennessee, but both James' mother and father's birthplace as Tennessee as well. James' vocation on the census is listed as: "Works In Saw Mill." In addition to James, Margaret, and the three older girls (Annie, Emma, and Ada), the following individuals are also listed as living in the Barnhill household: William Powers (age 28), Ethen A. Parker (age 20), and Franklin Nellis (age 7). In trying to research James and Margaret, I ran across a page in a book (Rover & Bedford County, Tn By Historical Society of Rover, Turner Publishing Company) that lists the children of Thomas Barnhill and Anna M. Wheeler (Born: 1818). I've listed the site at the end, but the children of Thomas and Anna were: James H. Barnhill, Nathan W. Barnhill, and Nancy M. Barnhill. I'm running under the 'best guess' assumption that my James H. Barnhill is the son of the above listed Thomas Barnhill and Anna Wheeler... I'm hoping that someone out there has more information on Thomas and Anna, as well, to see if this is true. Anyway, here's hoping to connect!
