My GGgrandmother was Lovina BARNHART, b. 1824 in Mercer Co., PA. Lovina was the daughter of Adam and Elizabeth (LININGER) BARNHART. The 1850 census shows what appears to be her parents, living next door to her. In the same household were a Joseph BARNHART, age 33, and Margaret BARNHART, age 20, both born in PA.

The story that has been passed down in the family is that Adam Barnhart was the grandson of a Prussian baron, who came to America because, being the youngest, was left out of the inheritance.

Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? If so, please email me, and we can compare notes!
