Long shot paid off__ Norman Griffin 42 b. 1803 and wife, Harriet 38 b. 1812, show in the Oct 31, 1850 PA Census for Erie County_Harborcreek Twp. Listed with 2 sons and 3 daughters__ Alvah 18 (M), Lydia 14 (F), Judson 12 (M), Harriet 8 (F) and Sarah 2 (F). States that Norman has $2500 in assets and is a farmer by trade. Norman, Harriet and Alvah were born in NY and the others were born in PA.

1860 Census for this same area lists Norman 56, Harriet 48, Alvi O 28, Lidia 28 (per previous Census, this should be 24), Judson 22, Matildy 18 (full name of young Harriet listed above may be Harriet Matilda?), Sarah C 12, George N 9, Betsy Ann 27, Harriet D 4 and Charles 7 months. It is most likely that Betsy (usual nickname for Elizabeth) is the oldest child and did not move to PA with the rest of the family__ she would have been 17 in 1850 and may have stayed behind to care for elderly grandparents who did not make the journey to PA. No other information_ hope this helps confirm your data. Regards
