Read your post to Jennifer. William Cone had a first wife named Elizabeth Morris, who was the mother of William's Children. Cloannah Duggan was married to William Hardy Hurst and had her children in that marriage. William Hardy Hurst die and there is a will to this effect in Martin County, NC. Hence the "Widow Hurst" tag to Cloannah. Now elizabeth Morris was declared incomptent in her late years and her Brother, Jacob Morris, married to Patience Cone was in court to become the guardian of Elizabeth in her late years. Jacob is recorded as a fellow drinker with William in several records on several occaisons. But William in time did marry Cloannah in his and her later years and hence the referal to her in his last will and testament. Also research shows a duaghter of the marriage to William Hardy Hurst named Pheriby. Pheriby in fact was the wife of Lewis Cone, Sr. and Cloannah in fact after 1800 was noted as residing in the household with Lewis and Pheriby in North Carolina before Lewis and pheriby moved on to Washington County, Ga, where Lewis did pass on. Pheriby in fact moved on to Jefferson county, Fl to live out her days in the home of Lewis M. Cone, Jr and Nancy Bethel Milton. The data that states Cloannah Duggan is the mother of Cone's is very much in error. She was also confused with the Chole Cones in some data. Jennifer is a good researcher as she has had the advantage of her Aunt in Leesburg, Fl working with her. But time has opened up many doors in genealogy and some of this confusion is being revised with good data research. Some records are extended by the researchers for their gains into societys and church records. Sadly sich as postings also are confusing the research in that once posted on these web sites, they can not be amended with the new facts.
