J'wan Aho!,
It is great to speak with someone else that has Native ties!! Are your K's pronounced with a G like in the Iroquoian language?
Nyeahweh (thank you) for not sending yet, until you get the virus cleared up. I have years of work on here. Most is backed up, but it could still mess my day up!
I have been working on the outward migrations of the Tuscarora Confederacy for 5 years, and sadly still have many years to go until the whole picture unfolds. But it is intriguing....not to mention confusing!
But it took over 20 years to get the first book published and it is limited still!
We would very much appreciate any contributions to the tribe, but we cannot sell any feathers from birds of prey. I take goose, chicken, and turkey vulture feathers and paint on them. What do you do with yours?
I don't blame you on the owl. Many of our people referr to them as the night hawks, but I don't mess with owl medicine either, cause it can go either way...if you know what I mean!
As to the Clans, we have the Bear, Deer, Wolf, Snipe, Sand and Mud Turtle, and Eel. Each Clan has either a Clanmother Rep. or Clan Chief. We have three men and three women. And the Head Sachem.
I represent the Bear Clan in our Tribe. We follow the Longhouse Traditions, some are christianized but that is an individual choice. We each have to work out our own way with the Creator. I'll find the paperwork that has what Surnames are in what Clan and post it another time.
Take care and walk in beauty my sister
