Grave site of Samuel L Barney
When I visited the grave of Samuel, my Gr, Gr grandfather, last summer I spoke to the Sexton of the Park Cemetery in Marquette Michigan. He is new to the cemetery and they are attempting to contact family members where there are grave sites available to family in the cemetery. He said that many family plots were purchased decades ago and many only have one or two people buried there. Some plots have as many as 20 empty spaces. In the case of the family plot where Samuel rests there are five empty spaces.
Some family member may have the receipt for the plot.In my best research that ownership should have passed to the oldest male child. That would have been my great uncle Samuel who died in Montana. My inquiry indicates the family does not know of the receipt or the ownership and they are not interested.
SO...Should any family descendent of Samuel L Barney desire to be buried in this family plot they only need to inform the Park Cemetery Sexton.
If there is a family member who possesses the receipt and proof of ownership please let us know.It is more likely that it was discarded long ago.
I am researching the family and would appreciate any digital scans of family pictures. If you have any family pictures and do not want to keep them I would be happy to archive them for the family.
I will be happy to forward a CD of my research and family pictures when I am done.Just contact me with your information. It will probably take me another year or so to complete what I am working on.
Thank you,
God bless.
