Albert (Alfred?) Barnet, Co. F. 119th PA Vols, MIA-Salem Church 3 May 1863
I have an original letter to my g-g-grandmother Ellen Crispin re: her husband, my ancestor Cornelius Richmond, also MIA at Salem Church during the Battle of Chancellorsville.
The letter refers to the three MIAs of Co. F. 119th PA Vols on 3 May 1863 as "Your husband, Albert Barnet, and Edward Getz—those three we Know was in the fight on that Sad Night. but wether they were killed, Wounded or are Now Prisioners. I cannot tell but we all trust that they May yet and that Very Soon Come to light. as we I can assure you, feel greatly worried about our lost Companions." The letter, written on 24 Jun 1863 gives further details about the battle.
I would be happy to share copies of the letter with members of his family. Please contact me at this email address
I have no known personal genealogical connection with this "Albert BARNET" other than the letter. The roster included in the book by Larry B. Maier: "Rough & Regular: A History of Philadelphia's 119th Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry" Burd St. Press, Shippensburg, PA 1997, shows this man may actually be "Corporal Alfred Barnett".
