At this time I don't know of a connection, but it is possible. My line originates in NC and SC. They did move through TN on their way to KY, then down to MS. They followed the old trade routes in the very early 1800's. Those same trade routes would be used 20 years later by the govt. - during the indian removal of 1838, known as the "Trail of Tears". One of my ancestors was William Barnes who is on the Reservation Roll of 1817 (#33).

I don't know if this helps you. If I had more information to go on, I might be able to tell if your line is connected to mine.
