I am wondering if some of what you posted sounds familiar or if I am lost in my own head after reading so much! I thought I had a William Barnes as the earliest in our lineage. I have photos of a William Barnes monument at Chestnut Level Cemetary in lancaster area, PA next to James Barnes and family who I know is that our family for certain. What I am trying to connect is the stories from family that there was a Barnes who went to North Carolina, and I am thinking maybe is somehow connected to your William. How can I help you? How can you help me? My James Barnes (the one I am sure about) born 1790 died 1881. He married Eliza Marth McSparran in PA. I reconnected a James Barnes 1757-1827 married to Rosanna 1756-1836 because of some research that escapes me at the moment. They were farmers, but with wealth at that early time. Does any of this ring any bells? I look forward to your response!
