LAKELAND -- Mr.Francis "Frank" W. Barnes of Lakeland died of heart
failure
Friday (Aug. 4,2006) at home. He was 82.
Born March 5, 1924, in Quincy, Ill., Mr. Barnescame to Lakeland from
Tampa
18 years ago. He was a mechanical engineer. Heserved in the U.S. Army
Air
Forces as a sergeant in the 77th Bomber Squadron inthe Aleutian
Islands during
World War II and received the Bronze Star. Heattended the Chicago Art
Institute and also attended college for refrigeration.He was a
Lutheran.
Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Peg Smith Barnes;sons, William
Barnes,
Indiana, Robert Barnes, Roanoke, Va., Gary Barnes, Easley,S.C.;
daughter,
Julie Ann Keck, Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, Arthur Barnes,
Houston,
Texas; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 1p.m. on Wednesday at the Florida
National
Cemetery in Bushnell.
