I stand corrected-He is FROM Edgecomb County. I cannot document his place of birth. Thanks for catching that.
The New York birth place comes from DAR records, but I have the following to one day submit to the Society and try to get some more info if available.
Edward Barnes of IoW Co. 28 Apr 1711 - 131 acres on the Eastward side of Chowan River.Beginning at a pine standing on the edge of the River Pequeson....Patent 10, pg. 29.
Edward Barnes of IoW Co. 15 Dec 1747 - 415 acres on the N. side of Meherrin River.Beginning and comm. on the corner of said Barnes other land by the side of the Great Branch.Patent 29, pg. 63.
Abraham Barnes listed as a surveyor for someone else's deed in Edgecomb in 1752, and another in 1753.
Wm Moore & Judith his wife of Orange Co. to Abraham Barnes of Edgecomb 150 Acres on {Contentney} Creek. 22 DEC 1755-signed by Edward Barnes & others.
Edward Barnes receiver of 1/3 of 640 acres sold by John Williams. Witnessed by Abraham Barnes, Joseph Simms & said Williams. 11 MAY 1756.
The transactions for Bladen/Robeson start in 1758 on the Old Field Swamp.
This is all I have to show Abraham was in Edgecomb.
Now in the 1790 census there is an Abraham Barnes in Robeson and one in Edgecomb.I think the other Abraham is the child of Jacob Barnes and Juland Whitley.Jacob's son Abraham being born about 1754. Do you have the same?
