Hi Alvy!
Thank you so much for referring me to your website!!I love it!
Found almost everything we've been looking for. Also confirmed tons of what I (and my Dad) have spent several years compiling. Still can't believe someone knows my Abram! Glad to know ya!!
Turns out Joseph was Abram's uncle; David Berner/Barner & Eva Braun/Brown are Abram's parents.
We've known for a LONG time that it had to be one of the 3 brothers (David, Joseph or George) and we were leaning toward George (Abram's son,my g,g g-father was named Stephen GEORGE)
If you'd like to update your records/fill in gaps:
ABRAM BARNER b. 22 Oct 1806 Cobleskill, Schoharie Co, NY
marr abt 1838 ELIZA SHORES Sheshequin Twp,Bradford Co,PA
ELIZA b. 1808 Hornbrook, Sheshequin Twp, Bradford Co, PA and d. 1898 (at Hornbrook, PA).
ABRAM died 27 Feb 1872 Sheshequin Twp.
Both are buried Hornbrook Cemetery,Sheshequin Twp.
I have visited their graves.
The marriage between Abram & Eliza was the second for both.
ABRAM first married MARIA SHAVER @ Cobleskill.
They had a SON, ABEL b 5 Jul 1829 @ Cobleskill.
In 1850 Sheshequin census, (the same?) Abel (age 21) shows up living 3 doors down from Abram & Eliza with Abram's Aunt Salome (Berner) Kilmer.
Also an ABEL BARNER (and wife Elizabeth) buried directly behind Abram & Eliza @ Hornbrook Cemetery.
ELIZA SHORES (dau. of JAMES SHORES & ELIZABETH (HAMILTON)--both from Morris Co, NJ) married first 1827 to Richard Horton in Sheshequin, PA.
Not sure if you want following generation(s), but will gladly share.Let me know.
Don't know much about Phoebe/Sarah, but have a bunch of BERNER/BARNER notes & research here and will look through them for you.My list of George (Hans Georg "Jurrian" Berner) and Sarah Omstead (we found "Olmstead") is almost identical to yours. My list shows "Sara" as first-born (30 Apr 1785).The only difference is that I have (2) Silas' (one b 1800 d 1800), another b 28 Aug 1807.Its very possible that Samuel married his sister-in-law, Sara.I've seen it before. In one branch of my family, one woman married 3 brothers consecutively (they kept dying on her) & had children with all of them.We thought at first that somebody had the records twisted around, but kept finding the same information over & over.
Do you live near Schoharie?I've never been there. Was born in NY state (just above Bradford Co, PA), but moved away when I was 8.
Have you noticed the longevity of the people in this family? My grandmother, whose mother was a Barner, has lived in or near Sheshequin, PA her entire life.
She just turned 93 in August and is in excellent health. Her brother just retired last summer, from farming and running a country store, at age 90.
Glad you replied.Thanks again.Take care!
Sharon
