I know who your Joshua is!!
He is the son of Hans Georg "Jurrian" Berner/Barner born 5 Jan 1758. He married Sarah Olmstead on Dec 3 1784 at Kingston, Ulster Co, NY. They had 10 children:
Sara b 4/30/1785
Catherine b 12/22/1786
Simon b 4/9/1789
Johannes b 10/24/1790
Hendrick b 2/1/1792
David b 8/23/1794
Phebe b 8/10/1796
Silas b 1800
JOSHUA b 10/5/1803
Levi b 5/18/1805.
HANS GEORG JURRIAN BERNER also shows up in the census and town histories of Cobleskill as "George Barner" or "George Berner."
I've heard conflicting stories that the family name was changed because of a feud between brothers and/or (the theory I accept) is that the German pronunciation of "Berner" sounds like "Barner" in English.
His brother, Joseph Berner, is supposedly my ancestor. He was the first settler at Barnerville, Schoharie Twp, Schoharie Co, NY.
The 1790 Schoharie NY Census shows that "George" lived 2 doors up from Joseph's place. I found somewhere else that the two brothers went to Schoharie County together from Dutchess Co, NY.
Joshua's grandfather was JOHANNES BERNER, born 20 Feb 1710/11 Poppenweiler, Wurttemberg, Germany. He married ANNA BARBARA WUSTER at the Rhinebeck Lutheran Church at Rhinebeck, Dutchess Co, NY in 1749. They were Palitinates. Her father was Simon Wuster.
Johannes' father was Joseph, born in Germany, married Elisabetha Graf.

But, I am still missing a generation.
My ggggrandfather was ABRAM BARNER. He is buried in Sheshequin, Bradford Co, PA.
His headstone reads:
"ABRAM BARNER, BORN OCT 22, 1806, COBLESKILL, SCHOHARIE COUNTY, NY"
His grandfather was supposedly Joseph and his father was George? or Stephen?
Do you or anyone have any information on my ABRAM BARNER/BERNER?
Or a list of the children of:
JOSEPH BARNER/BERNER and CATHARINA BORST of Barnerville, Schoharie County, NY?
