An online presentation of the 1850 census for Hempstead Co.Ark.lists the family of a S.C.born James A.Barner as being wife Jane, offspings James L.,Wm.R.,Isabella and a Thos.L.Mahom in the household. While this is presented by a transcriber(bless them for the work they do)and I have not seen the census image,I always thought this family's name to be Barron and James A.my gggrandfather.Could a name change have taken place 50 to 60 and explain the wall I have encountered and cannot cross to go further back.Any Barner researchers have a Barron variant in your family history?
