Ronnie Allen Barnard, 62, of Harmon Road, Powell, TN, died
Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at home after a courageous
7-month battle with lung cancer.
Ronnie was a devoted husband, father and papaw. He retired
from Levi Strauss in Powell after 30 years of service. He
enjoyed camping and fishing at Terry Point Campground, on
Douglas Lake, and restoring classic cars.
He was a member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church. He
was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Mary
Copeland Barnard; and brother, Jerry R. Barnard, Sr., and
wife Carolyn; brothers-in-law, Stan Brookshier, Joe Kirby
and Lowell Richards.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shirley Cross
Barnard; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Greg Long
of Powell and Kelley and Eric Mikels of Knoxville, TN;
grandchildren, Haley Brooke and Sara Katherine Mikels, and
Hunter Cage Long; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and
Erna and Harold and Sidney Barnard; sisters and brothers-
in-law, Sandra and Harold Kelley and Wilma Sue and Bill
Pointer; brother-in-law, Johnny Cross; sisters-in-law,
Wilma Brookshier, Annetta Kirby, Sue Richards and Linda
Perry; several cousins, nieces, nephews; and 'his boys'
and devoted friends, too many to mention, but all xtremely
special to him and his family.
A special thanks to Ronnie's Angels and the staff at
Tennessee Cancer Specialists. The family will receive
friends 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2008, at Weaver's
Chapel with a celebration of life service to follow at 8 p.m.
with Reverends Tommy Langston and Mark Martin officiating.
His body will be cremated following the service, and his
ashes scattered at a later date. You are invited to share
