Hi, Kathryn --

I was interested to read your message and your earlier posting. Concerning the Robert Barnard, christened 19 Oct 1617, Lowestoft, Suffolk, son of Thomas and Anne -- I have no idea whether or not he went to Massachusetts. My Lowestoft ancestry begins with my father, so I have not traced anyone to America. Robert did not marry in Lowestoft, but I did find the following burial entry in the Lowestoft parish registers:

Burials 1665
Robert Barnnard, Southwould

Whether this is the same Robert, I do not know. Perhaps he died while visiting family in Lowestoft, or desired to be buried there near his father and other family members. The Lowestoft Barnards were shipwrights, so perhaps they had a family plot.

I hope this helps with your hypothesis concerning the Wiltshire Barnard connection.
