Hello,
I am working with an Allen Gardner Barnard born 1897 in Virginia. He is shown in the 1910 census as "adopted" and living in Islip, New York. I am trying to find him in the 1900 census, presumably with his birth parents in Virginia. Do any of you have records of Barnards in Virginia at that time? By the way, I feel fairly certain that Barnard was his birth name and not an adopted name.
