Ruth, thank you so very much for your reply to my question!
I am very interested in finding out about Simeon Barnabys parantages. This is what I have to go on. A letter from Wallace Austin, Secretary of the Old Colony Historical Society, Taunton, MA, written July 14, 1957:

Replying to your inquiry regarding Simeon Barnaby, I think I have the whole story. The first generation in this country was James Barnaby; he married Lydia Bartlett, b. 1647, daughter of Robert and Mary (Warren) Barnaby. They had a son James, b. 1670, married Joanna Harlow of Plymouth. James and Joanna had a son Ambrose, b. 1706, d. April 18, 1775, he married July 4, 1728, Elizabeth Gardiner of Swansea, b. Nove. 11, 1708, d. Jan. 28, 1788.
Ambrose and Elizbeth had a son Ambrose, Jr. b. Feb. 11, 1745, d. 1806. Ambrose Jr. married, first, Elizabeth Wilbur, and by her he had Daniel, Nancy and Sarah, the latter diedin infancy; he married second, Aug. 14, 1779 Philena Burt, b. Oct. 22, 1757, d. 1790; he had by her, Sarah, Ambrose, James, and Stephen. Rev. James b. June 25, 1787, married Aug. 13, 1810 Abigail Burt, daughter of Simeon Burt. Rev. James and Abigail had eight children, the fourth being Simeon Burt Barnaby, b. 1817, d. 1890, and there is your great, great, grandfather.

Ambrose Jr. had no children by his third wife. The only genealogy I know of is combined with the Pierce family records; it is a very rare book and sells for $20.00.

Sincerely yours,
W.Wallace Austin,Secretary

Ruth, the dates for Simeon Burt Barnaby in the above letter leaves doubts, as to this Simeon Barnaby being the same as my Simeon Barnaby. The reason is I can prove from John Thompson Barnaby, b.Mar 13, 1821 in Madison County, Illinois that his mother was Mary Ferguson who supposedly had married Simeon Barnaby. Mary Ferguson Barnaby married William Lee, who had died by 1841, so that tells me that Simeon died when his children were very young.
The more I search the more confused I get.
What do you think? Am I looking up the wrong tree? In some of my notes from my Aunt Clarine Brown, she states that Simeon Barnaby's father was a John Barnaby that came to Silver Creek in Madison County, Ill. in 1818. His son, John, married Mary Johnson, and son, Simeon, married Mary Ferguson.
To answer your question, I do not have proof for the marriage of Simeon.

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Cadet Barnaby Griffith
