I possess a letter dated Sept 20, 1935 addressed to Miss Ruth Barmore, Box 1055, San Benito, (Cameron Co.) TX. It was written to her by her mother. The post mark is Cameron, Texas. I suppose the mother lived in the town of Cameron.
Numerous names are mentioned in the letter (mostly first names): Gladys, Mrs. Killen's (a dress shop owner?), "your" Aunt Edith (I suppose Ruth Barmore's aunt), Joe (a female it seems), Roy (was helping out at the cafe -
a cafe in Cameron?), Roy's neighbor, Mr. Houston. She writes about molding her own butter and selling it to the "McNess" dealer. She also mentions Johnny in connection with taking care of the cows that "our dear Dad" loved so much, and Ada
Belle. She also mentions Mrs. Adams and Joyce.
I did find where one Ada Belle Barmore m. Marvin Alton McKay and had the following children, all born in Texas:
William Alton b. 29 Nov 1943 Harris Co.
Myra Pauline b. 3 July 1946 Harris Co.
Marvin Eugene b. 1 Dec 1948 Brazoria Co.
Further research shows a Myra Pauline m. Julian N. Schwartz 10 June 1995 in Bexar Co. I do not know if these are related.
I would love to send this letter to a descendant. I don't have a connection to this family. If you do, please email me directly and I'll mail the letter to you.
Regards,
Joyce Zachman, JZachman@msn.com
