Hi Linda! Don't know whether you have this information as yet. if not, this is what I have about Rebecca Barley's lindeage. Caspar Phillip Byerley/Byerly was born abt. 1725 in Germany, and died 1804 in Pomeria S.C. With his first wife he had children and one of them was Harman who was born Abt. 1776 in S.C. and died in ? He married Edith in ? Harman had 10 children and the 4th was Rebecca Blarley )Blarly) Grindstaff b. Knox Co. KY m. Jacob Grindstaff August 25, 1825 Knox Co. Ky by Wm Hopper. THe census records state that she was born in S.C. I think. He doesn't carry Rebecca's line on down but does write about 5 of her siblings. On another page entitled Notes on Caspar Phillip Byerley/Byerly he writes Arrived Charleston S.C. in the fall of 1752 on the passenger ship 'Caldonia" He arrived alone so we believe he married in S.C. He received 50 acres land grant in 1753 and sold it later as he never resided on it. His first child was born c.1756 so we believe he married about 1754-5. He stayed in Charleston about 6 years then moved to the "Dutch Fork" area in Newberry Co. S.C. He purchased land in the area and was a planter. He had 4-5 slaves. There are still cousins living in the area. The Byerley name has been changed and the cousins in S.C. spell it Berly. Others moved to TN TX to name a couple. A family in TN, spell it as I do, others Byarley, Byerly . etc.
