I am descended from John Barley (Sr) and wife Elizabeth (maiden name unknown) who first bought 164 acres on Terrible Creek in Halifax Co, VA in 1766 from John Phelps (Deed Book 10-101). Deed stated that both parties were from Halifax Co. Their daughter Elizabeth Barley married 3 Dec 1789 Elijah Tucker (Marriage Book 1-17) (my ancestors). I have been unable to determine ancestry of John Barley Sr or his wife Elizabeth. John died intestate about 1808, but Elizabeth left will 1815 (Will Book 10-164) naming children and grandchildren. B.
