Dear Mr/Ms Hough,

Given the relative few families using the Barlee spelling and the Brooke location I am sure that our families are related but I cannot categorically prove it.

The 1891 census has your Barlee family living in Trowse Newton. All are in the census apart from Charles - who is a bit young to have set off on his own so is probably dead by 1891.

In 1891 "my" Barlees Charles and Charlotte are living in Brook!

The census shows "your" William born in Brooke (annoyingly it does not give his age). There is also a James born there, aged 47 (William's brother?).

"My" Charles is shown as the same age as James but born in Kingstead (this is an error - he was born in Kirstead). I don't know enough of the area to know whether Kitstead is close to Brooke and whether Charles is a thirs brother.

The fact he moves to Brooke is strong evidence that there is a family connection.

Do you know anything about the father - James?

Charlotte Aldred Barlee and I share ancestors - so I would be related directly to any descendants of her and Charles. Their only child I know is Ellen born in 1868 in Arminghall.

Please contact me directly on martindezeals@yahoo.com

With a bit of effort, I am sure that we can tie the families together!

Regards

Martin
