BARKWELL - John Fulton, late of Fort Qu'Appelle, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2005 at Echo Lodge at the age of 92 years. He was born at Dysart on July 12, 1913. John was predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Janet, sister Nana, brother Stewart, daughter-in-law Beverley Barkwell, father and mother-in-law John and Ellen Griffin, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Edwin and Dorothy Griffin, William and Nance Clarke, Albert and Mary Griffin. John is survived by his loving wife Edna of 66 years; children Garry (Sue) Barkwell of Regina, Jim Barkwell of Edmonton, Janice (Gary) Winslow of Regina; grandchildren Lauren (Perry) Rozon, Tracy (Pat) Carrigan, Scott Barkwell, Kelley Barkwell, Leanne (Darren) Jorgensen, Blake Winslow and Doug Winslow; great grandchildren Jaiden and Stephen Carrigan, Jake and Jessie Barkwell, Emma and Olivia Jorgensen also survived by brother Lorne (Elsie) Barkwell, sisters-in-law Betty Barkwell, Bunny (Frank) Bull and Mildred (Harvey) Schulhauser, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, good neighbours and many close friends. John and Edna farmed 9 miles north of Dysart for 46 years and retired in 1985 to Fort Qu'Appelle. John served his community well as a councillor with the RM of Lipton, Cupar Hospital Board, Yorkton East Central Region Hospital Association, Echo Lodge founding member, Saskatchewan Hospital Association, school trustee, McDonald Hills' telephone board and Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. John enjoyed playing golf, bridge, snooker, travelling, reading, the Blue Jays and crossword puzzles. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Echo Lodge, 560 Broadway St. W., Fort Qu'Appelle, S0G 1S0. A Memorial Service in loving memory of John will be held on Thursday, July 28th, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 E Victoria Ave. with Rev. Des G. Patton officiating.
