I think that I have some information that might help you, concerning John Barkman - if we are thinking about the same person.

John Barkman (Bergman), born 1785 in Berks County, PA Took family west to Ohio, and died in 1850 in Morrow County, Ohio. Had 9 children (all born in PA),including a Henry,
Catherine, and Isaac.
