My great grandfather, James Alford Monrow Barkley's parents were Robert, Jr and Martha Matkin Barkley, his parents were Robert and Martha Orme Crowe Barkley from Morgan Co., Alabama. Robert's father was James who was born abt 1740 Ireland and died after 1830 census South Carolina. His father was Henry. There are so many Henry, John, Robert, Thomas Barkley's hard to see which one is related where. Family story says 5 Barkley brothers came from Ireland to America abt 1750. But not known who for sure their parents were. Is anyone working on any of these lines? When they came to America name spelling changed from Barclay to Barkley?? Nedra Burton and I have worked on them over the years. any updated info????
