Lou Barker
I have a senario to run by the Barker list
Lou Barker Born Circa 1857 Died circa 1897. It is possible that she is the daughter of W. W. W. Barker and Almina Barker. Lou was born in Texas c 1857 and her parents in Indiana and Virginia. Lou Barker Married J. H. Lindley 3 October 1872. She would have been about 15. Mrs. Lou Lindley married J. W. Matthews 25 July 1878. In the 1880 census for Hopkins County I found a Joseph W. Matthews with a wife Lou and two children. Elmira which matches her mothers name. And could have been misspelled by the census taker. Elmira is listed as 6 making her birth 1874. There is also a James W., 4 birth 1876. It is possible that the two children are from the marriage of Lou Barker and J. H. Lindley. It would not be the first time that children were not listed by their last name and listed as belonging to the man.
I looked at the 1870 census for W. W. Barker and his lou is listed as male. Not unusual to guess wring on sex when going by name.
14February 1883 Lou Matthews married David Cicero Garvin. Four children are the results of this marriage. Jefferson W. Garvin, 1884-1899. Silas Kirksey Garvin, 1885-1959. Dovie Polina Garvin, 1887-1974. William Henry Garvin, 1888-1972.
The marriage dates are from the Hopkins County marriage records. The Census records are from Ancestory.com the rest of this senario is from my fertile imagination.
This is my theory shoot it full of holes.
I will discuss anything pertinent to prove or disprove this theory.
