Elisha Barker
Looking for Elisha Barker Sr.,b. 1798 (Va).He was married possibly twice.I have second wife as Elizabeth,b.1812,Ky.
I have found 2 Elisha's(Actually one is an Elijah)in early Va:1810,Bedford Co.Va: Elijah ,26-45;wife,26-45;son,under 10 & 2 daughters,under 10.
1820 (New Kent Co.Va) has an Elisha Barker,26-45;wife,26-45.
3 daughters under 10. There are also 3 female slaves.
1820 (Bedford Co.Va) Northern Div..: Elijah Barker,45 & up;wife,45 & up;2 sons,1,16-26 and 1,16-26; 3 daughters,1,10-16;and 2 under 10.
Living next door is John Barker,45 & up,with wife,26-45;
daughters,1,16-26;1,10-16,2 under 10; and 3 sons,1,10-16 & 2 under 10.
1820 Bedford Co.Va (Southern Div.)a William Barker,16-26.He may be head of house.There is an older woman,45 & up,prob.his mother;a young woman,prob.his wife,16-26;1 dau,under 10;and 2 sons,under 10.
The next time I find our Elisha Sr.is in 1840,Hancock Co.Ky.
I am not sure which one he is,whether from Bedford Co.or New Kent Co. I figure our Elisha Sr.is possibly one of the sons in one of the above census records. Our Elisha stayed in Hancock and Breckinridge Co.s Ky.His son,Elisha,Jr.married in Indiana;but lived most of the time in Breck.Co.Ky or Hancock Co.Ky. His son was Sylvester Barker,who was the husband of my grgrandfather's sister,Bertha Anna Dunn.
Does anyone have any info that could connect our Elisha Sr.to any of the census' above,or to any other Barker family,for that matter. Is anyone descended from the 2 families mentioned in the above Counties in Va? Any info will be appreciated.
