My Barker English ancestors were connected to ships and the sea. My earliest US Barker ancestor worked in the shipyards of New York City abt 1830. They
claimed they were "English Blue Bloods" as well, with a General in the family. Anything ring a bell?
We have a painting handed down to us depicting a home with a thatched roof and a sailor coming home to a wife and children. A friend in England suggests the home is similar to those in southern England.
For more information on the descendants of this family you could enter the surname "strovink" in the search engine to bring up all of my prior messages.
Thank you for trying to help.
