According to the book by Elizabeth Frye Barker, (Frye Publishing Co. 15 West 107th Street, New York N.Y 1927,)and I believe it was located in the Andrew Carnegie Library in downtown Atlanta.I'm talking about I researched this in around 1963, so don't fault my memory if I'm wrong.
Samuel Barker was a quaker and came over on the ship Welcome with William Penn, arrived on Oct. 27, 1682 at Upland now Chester,PA.On Mar. 27, 1685, a grant was made by William Penn of 200 acres of land and purchase by Samuel Barker. It was located in what is now New Castle County, Delaware and was called Barkers Bridge. Here the homestead was built and remained in the family until the death of William Barker in 1840.
There is no record oyet found of whom Samuel Barker married. He died intestate July --, 1720, and buried in Old Swedes Churchyard in
Wilmington, Delaware July 25, 1720.
Samuel Barker had four children Joseph Barker
born c-1700, died 1-20-1755, married Johanna Clayton,Daniel Barker born 1704, died 1748, married Elizabeth Nicholas,Mary Barker born
9-25-1706, died ?, married William Richardson
and Anna Barker born ?, died ?, married to
William Hicks.
The Sons of Daniel Barker were Robert, Nicholas, Samuel and John Barker they moved to North Carolina and settled in Randolph County. Daniel Barker is my 5thGr-Grandfather
Hope this helps,
Bill
